Advanced / Highly Specialist Dietitian – Band 7

Salary £40,000 - £46,000 per Annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 37.5hrs per week / full time and part time available

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled enthusiastic HCPC Registered Dietitian with excellent communication, clinical, and leadership skills to join the friendly and supportive team at St Andrews Healthcare. St. Andrew’s Healthcare is a leading not for profit provider of in-patient psychiatric care.

The role:

Meeting nutritional needs in a mental health setting can be challenging but very rewarding with the opportunity to make a significant difference to patient care. Support will be available from your line manager and colleagues in the dietetic team.

This post would be ideally suited to an experienced band 6 dietitian wishing to take the next step in their career progression and wanting the opportunity to expand their leadership and clinical skills, or an established band 7 dietitian seeking a new challenge and career direction. There will be lots of support available to the right candidate to help this role develop further.

The successful applicant will join St Andew's friendly and supportive dietetic team, all based in Northampton, Birmingham and Essex. Support will always be available from the rest of the team. They are also committed to ongoing professional development and have monthly professional meetings, which you will be supported to attend.

Northampton role:

You will become part of the well established multidisciplinary team whom support a 12-bedded service for women with a dual diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) with Disordered Eating, alongside those presenting with a comorbid eating disorder. The current team have extensive knowledge of working with this patient group and recognise the clinical importance and benefit of having a dietitian as part of this team. This role would offer a great opportunity for a Specialist Dietitian looking to develop their skills within this field of practice or a highly Specialist Dietitian looking for a change of career paths.

What skills will you need for this role?

  • You will have excellent communication skills, self-motivation and evidence of post registration training in motivational interviewing. 
  • You will have extensive dietetic skills and sound clinical knowledge with evidence of working within eating disorders and evidence of recognised post registration training in this area of dietetics.
  • You will have experience of working with teams who use Dialectical Behavioural Therapy or cognitive behavioural therapy and have a good awareness and understanding of this therapeutic approach.
  • You will have evidence of leadership skills in a professional capacity.

You will have evidence of being able to manage a busy caseload of patients with complex needs and evidence of seeking peer support when needed.
 
The dietetic Team at St Andrews:
 
St Andrew's Healthcare currently collaborates with Leicester Primary Care and Northampton General to support dietetic students from Nottingham University.  They are always keen to promote the work that they do as a team on a wider level. As an example of this the St Andrews Nutrition Screening tool (SANSI) has been widely recognised as a validated tool within a mental health setting and has recently also been recognised by Public Health England.
